A SURPRISE addition has been made to a certain Scottish Labour MP's staff this week. No, not Ian Murray, the other one.
Michael Shanks – MP for Rutherglen and Hamilton West – has taken on Traitors star Zack Davies as an adviser.
Set in a Scottish castle, the BBC series was a global hit as players took part in challenges to grow a prize pot while a group of “traitors” secretly plotted to murder “faithfuls”.
The betrayals, banishments, and murders kept millions hooked at the start of this year.

Zack – who made it to episode 11 and close to the £100,000 prize pot – was a divisive figure on the show.
He was certainly outspoken, making frequent accusations of his fellow contestants including fellow faithfuls like Jasmine Boatswain.
But Zack may have to cool down that instinct in his new gig. Scottish Labour MPs are more known for toeing the Keir Starmer line than speaking out - as evidenced when they abstained on a crucial Gaza ceasefire vote last November.
Funnily enough, the move also comes less than a month after the Press and Journal branded Starmer and Rachel Reeves “traitors” on the newspaper’s front page for scaling back Labour’s green investment plans.
Why are you making commenting on The National only available to subscribers?
We know there are thousands of National readers who want to debate, argue and go back and forth in the comments section of our stories. We’ve got the most informed readers in Scotland, asking each other the big questions about the future of our country.
Unfortunately, though, these important debates are being spoiled by a vocal minority of trolls who aren’t really interested in the issues, try to derail the conversations, register under fake names, and post vile abuse.
So that’s why we’ve decided to make the ability to comment only available to our paying subscribers. That way, all the trolls who post abuse on our website will have to pay if they want to join the debate – and risk a permanent ban from the account that they subscribe with.
The conversation will go back to what it should be about – people who care passionately about the issues, but disagree constructively on what we should do about them. Let’s get that debate started!
