LOCALS have reacted with fury after a motorhome on the NC500 route allegedly dumped their toilet waste down a public drain.
In a post on the NC500 The Dirty Truth Facebook group, one person said they had reported the offenders to police and the Scottish Environment Protection Agency (Sepa) after witnessing toilet waste being emptied improperly.
The Campervan and Motorhome Professional Association (Campa) says that “chemical toilet waste should NEVER be emptied ANYWHERE other than a designated area at a campsite, a motorhome service point, or in your own sewage system at home”.

The post on the NC500 group read: “This lovely caravanette driver stopped outside our neighbour’s house and furtively dumped their toilet cassette down the road drain.
“Unfortunately for him, three of us witnessed it.
“I’ve now reported it to Sepa and Police Scotland. Was a little surprised that police are not interested in folk dumping their shite.
“The biggest shock is that Sepa have said that it does not fall within their remit (protecting the environment????!!!!) and that it’s the local authority and Scottish Water that should be informed.”

They also shared images of the alleged offenders and their motorhome.
Other users responded with fury.
“What the hell is wrong with people, absolutely disgusting,” one wrote.
“Class act..” another said.

Why are you making commenting on The National only available to subscribers?
We know there are thousands of National readers who want to debate, argue and go back and forth in the comments section of our stories. We’ve got the most informed readers in Scotland, asking each other the big questions about the future of our country.
Unfortunately, though, these important debates are being spoiled by a vocal minority of trolls who aren’t really interested in the issues, try to derail the conversations, register under fake names, and post vile abuse.
So that’s why we’ve decided to make the ability to comment only available to our paying subscribers. That way, all the trolls who post abuse on our website will have to pay if they want to join the debate – and risk a permanent ban from the account that they subscribe with.
The conversation will go back to what it should be about – people who care passionately about the issues, but disagree constructively on what we should do about them. Let’s get that debate started!
