A MULTIMEDIA show celebrating Vincent van Gogh and his world-famous artworks is coming to Scotland this summer.

The show, Beyond Van Gogh: The Immersive Experience, has already been seen by more than five million people across North America and will be debuting in Glasgow on July 11 at the Scottish Event Campus (SEC).

Visitors will be taken on a journey through the artist’s world “from darkness to light” as the narrative experience is designed to showcase Van Gogh’s most famous paintings in a completely different light.

The experience combines more than 300 of the post-impressionist's most famous paintings with cutting-edge technology and a specially curated musical soundtrack to tell the story of one of history’s most influential artists.

The paintings will be rendered into three-dimensional, fully immersive scenes that swirl and flow with colour and movement.

Anna Parry, who is the UK business development at Annerin Productions, the producers of the show, said the exhibition is a great fit for a city like Glasgow which has long celebrated its cultural roots in the art world.

She said: “Glasgow has long been renowned as a vibrant cultural heartland –  it was the UK’s first European Capital of Culture, and the city has some wonderful, world-class art galleries and museums.

“Annerin Productions is honoured to make Glasgow the initial opening of Beyond Van Gogh in Scotland.

“We’ve received immense support from the team at the Scottish Events Campus and we can’t wait to welcome everyone into Van Gogh’s world this summer.”

Visitors to the exhibition will be able to connect with Van Gogh through personal letters he wrote to his brother, Theo, who was the artist's greatest supporter.

The immersive room is the heart of the show, and it is where “Van Gogh’s paintings are freed from their frames”, as the walls and floors of the rooms are filled with projections of the artist’s most renowned paintings.

The event is aimed at not just fans of the Dutch artist, but for those who want to learn about him for the first time.
