THE National will be putting more copies of our newspaper in shops – after our initiative to boost availability was received so well by readers.
In March, we announced that we would be upping our print run to make sure people the length and breadth of Scotland could secure their daily print edition.
It also came amid reader feedback that they were struggling to secure their daily paper in some parts of Scotland.

Now, after a boost in sales and readers telling us that they have found it easier to pick up their National, we are extending this initiative – putting even more papers on newsstands.
The National’s editor Laura Webster: “We’re massively grateful to readers for their support – and while we’re proud of our digital coverage, we know many people still love their print copy of The National.
“Our team put a lot of love into that edition each and every day, so we’re over the moon to see the response we’ve had since putting more in shops.
“This is a major time in Scottish politics. Scotland will soon see its next first minister. And The National reports on angles others don’t – on this subject and many more – so we want to make sure that coverage is available far and wide.
“Some readers have still had issues getting their copy. As always, give us an email or a ring to let us know where you are and we’ll do our best!”
It comes as The National is also running a subscription special offer for our website, allowing readers to keep up to date through our leading breaking news coverage.
We’re offering a whole year of access to our website for just £20 – which includes access to our digital puzzles selection.
That offer ends at 11.59pm on Friday, May 3. Click HERE for more information.
Why are you making commenting on The National only available to subscribers?
We know there are thousands of National readers who want to debate, argue and go back and forth in the comments section of our stories. We’ve got the most informed readers in Scotland, asking each other the big questions about the future of our country.
Unfortunately, though, these important debates are being spoiled by a vocal minority of trolls who aren’t really interested in the issues, try to derail the conversations, register under fake names, and post vile abuse.
So that’s why we’ve decided to make the ability to comment only available to our paying subscribers. That way, all the trolls who post abuse on our website will have to pay if they want to join the debate – and risk a permanent ban from the account that they subscribe with.
The conversation will go back to what it should be about – people who care passionately about the issues, but disagree constructively on what we should do about them. Let’s get that debate started!
