A SIX-night cruise around the Hebrides has been announced to combat the pressures of overtourism on the islands.

Hebrides Cruises is launching a six-night cruise around the Iles and Islands in the Hebrides to help mitigate over-tourism on land while offering a unique way to explore the Northwest of Scotland.

The Skye and the Small Isles: Hebridean Horizons boat tour will set sail through some of Scotland's most pristine waters and offer an opportunity to explore the region's natural wonders more sustainably.

Skye alone is a top tourist destination with more than a million visitors predicted to make the journey north to see the natural beauty of the island.

The boat tour will give visitors the chance to explore Skye from a distance as well as the chance to visit Muck, Eigg, Rum, and Canna.

The cruise also offers passengers the ability to do some spectacular marine and bird watching as they could get to see dolphins and minke whales.

One of the highlights includes a trip to one of the area's most untouched landmarks, Loch Scavaig, and a trek to the secluded Loch Coruisk which lies at the foot of Black Cuillin.

Hebrides Cruises’ acknowledges the need for sustainable tourism practices that ensure the conservation of Scotland's natural resources and believes that offering the opportunity to go by sea will help elevate the pressures of over-visiting onshore.
