POLICE have launched an appeal following a "significant livestock attack" between two Ayrshire villages.

A total of 13 lambs and two sheep were killed following the incident which officers understand to have taken place between 3pm and 8.30pm on Thursday, June 13.

The attack affect two separate farm business on agricultural land between the villages of Kirkmichael and Dalrymple.

Numerous other animals were also injured as a result of the incident.

Rural officer, PC Andrew Thorne, said: "This has been a significant livestock attack, with two ewes and 13 lambs being killed and numerous others being injured.

"This incident has unfortunately impacted on two separate local farm businesses.

"Police Scotland would ask for any information regarding this incident or knowledge of dogs that may have been unsupervised, gone missing or returned home wet and bloodied in the local area at the material time."
