The National:

RACHEL Reeves may have thrown Labour’s election chances into the balance in Scotland with an absolute howler of a tweet about the beloved national drink.

The shadow chancellor performed her obligatory "visiting UK politician whisky distillery tour" photo-op on Tuesday.

But she made the cardinal sin when she uploaded a video of her trip to the Chivas distillery with a caption spelling whisky with an E.

The caption underneath the iconic drink read: “Which whiskey is this?”

One person was quick to point out her gaff on social media as they said: “Rachel Reeves can't spell Whisky.”

Another quickly added: “Hope she is better at sums.”

While a third added: “Going through a difficult spell? Can’t even spell Whisky.”

Although the gaffe will hardly win over any supporters in Scotland for Reeves, Labour has a bigger headache on their hands.

The party had to suspend one of its General Election candidates on the same day as Reeves's distillery visit due to being caught up in the ongoing Westminster betting scandal.
