WITH group stage action finished, this summer’s Euros is about to enter the knockout stages.

That means there’s only 16 names left in The National’s charity sweepstake and there’s a couple of big games to kick things off today.

Here’s a look at who’s going head-to-head.

Alan Cumming vs Susie McCabe

First up, we have Scottish actor and Yes campaigner going up against comedian Susie McCabe.

Cumming will now be able to give his full support to his team Switzerland after joking he’d be rooting against himself when they played Scotland in the group stage.

McCabe meanwhile drew holders Italy, who famously beat England at Wembley on penalties in 2021.

Italy have struggled to impress so far while Switzerland put up a strong showing in their own group so it could be a tight contest.

Cumming is playing for Scottish Trans while McCabe (above) is hoping to win £1000 for Carntyne Credit Union Food Bank.

Switzerland vs Italy is the first of two games today and will kick off at 5pm on the BBC.

Mark Nelson vs Alistair Heather

Like Cumming, Scottish comedian Mark Nelson (below) drew one of Scotland’s group stage opponents in our sweepstake in Germany.

Writer and broadcaster Heather meanwhile drew Denmark, who of course picked up a 1-1 draw with England.

Germany are favourites heading into the match but anything can happen at this stage as both look to pick up a win for their chosen charity.

Heather is playing for Dundee United Community Trust while Nelson has picked Marie Curie as his charity.

The game will kick off at 8pm and will be broadcast on STV.
