A WOMAN has been arrested following the death of a man at a supermarket in Arbroath.

Officers attended the scene following reports of an unresponsive man at an Asda in Westway Retail Park around 7.25pm on Sunday.

Police confirmed that a 62-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene.

A 37-year-old woman has been arrested and charged in connection with an assault.

She is set to appear at Forfar Sheriff Court on Tuesday.

The police have said the death is being treated as “unexplained” and a post-mortem is set to be carried out.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 7.25pm on Sunday, June 30, 2024, we were called to a report of an unresponsive man within a supermarket in Westway Retail Park, Arbroath.

“Emergency services attended and a 62-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene.

“The death is being treated as unexplained at this time and a post-mortem examination will be carried out in due course.

“A 37-year-old woman has been arrested and charged in connection with an assault. She is due to appear at Forfar Sheriff Court on Tuesday, July 2.”

A Scottish Ambulance Service spokesperson said: “We received a call at 7.26pm on Sunday June 30 to attend an incident on Dundee Road, Arbroath. We dispatched two ambulances to the scene.”
