A POPULAR Glasgow pub has announced its shock closure after welcoming customers for almost 25 years.

The Lab, which is just off Buchanan Street in Springfield Court close to Princes Square, reportedly announced it would be closing its doors for a final time this Saturday.

The bar has been a mainstay in the city centre for more than two decades and is renowned for its test tube shots.

Glasgow Live reported the team at the bar took to social media to announce the shock closure as support for the staff poured in from regulars.

The post said: “It is with a heavy heart that we have to inform you that after nearly a quarter of a century, the Lab will be closing its doors for the very last time this Saturday, the 20th of July.

“We would like to say a massive thank you to all our customers and staff, past and present. Without you, it wouldn't have been possible.”

The post added that if any regulars of the bar were unable to stop by and say goodbye, they would be hosting one last night at a venue later on.

It said: “For those of you not able to say a final goodbye, we will, in due course, organise a wee night out at a venue still to be decided to raise a glass to the Lab and share our happy and sad memories.”
