AN AWARD-WINNING hotel chain is set to open its first Scottish hotel in Edinburgh later this year.

The Resident will open in the Scottish capital on September 1 and is located at Drumsheugh Gardens which is a short walk to both Princes Street and Charlotte Square in the heart of the city.

The luxury hotel will boast 164 rooms and suites with each one having a mini kitchen in it to offer a “home from home” feeling for guests.

There will also be a Nespresso machine and complimentary capsules, GHD hairdryers, Molton Brown bathroom products as well as dining and working areas in each room.

The stylish hotel will also offer a range of breathtaking views from its rooms including the city’s iconic skyline, Edinburgh Castle and the Firth of Forth.

The interior also draws inspiration from the cultural importance of the city while offering a cosy charm.

The owners of The Resident, MacTaggart Family and Partners, have expressed their own Scottish heritage had played a big part in their decision to open a new hotel in Scotland.

The brand already has five hotels in the UK including London and Liverpool.

The hotel is redeveloping the former HMRC office in the Scottish capital which was first built in the 1960s.

It is also partnering with local businesses around the city to offer guests exclusive deals at restaurants, bars and gyms.

Some of the local brands included are The West End Brasserie, Cairngorm Coffee, Dulse, Kyloe, and even attractions such as the Royal Yacht Brittania, The Real Mary King’s Close and Pickering’s at Summerhall.

David Orr, CEO of Resident Hotels Ltd, is looking forward to welcoming guests to the hotel and offering them a “personal experience” of the city.

Gillian Mylles, general manager of The Resident Edinburgh, echoed Orr’s sentiments and is looking forward to having guests explore Edinburgh.
