ON Monday, Russell Findlay became the first Scottish Tory to throw his hat into the ring to replace Douglas Ross as his party’s leader.

The exact timeline of the leadership contest is unclear although it is expected that more names will enter the race.

It comes as the Conservative Party also announced that Rishi Sunak’s replacement would not be announced until November 2.

The party said the former prime minister, who presided over the party’s worst-ever election defeat on July 4, will remain acting leader until that date.
