TWO police officers have been raced to hospital after multi-vehicle crash on Glasgow's busy M8 motorway.
Emergency crews rushed to Junction 13 (Provan Interchange) on the motorway after being called to a multi-vehicle crash in the east end of the city.
Police say they were alerted to the incident shortly after 1pm on Wednesday, July 24.
Now, the force has revealed the smash involved three motors – and one of them was a police car.
Mercy crews are still in attendance at the scene, however, four people have been taken to hospital for treatment – with two of them being on-duty police officers.
Traffic Scotland has said the road's eastbound carriageway remains closed following the smash.
Meanwhile, local diversions are in place and road users are being urged to avoid the area.
In pictures captured for The Glasgow Times and The National at the scene, multiple emergency crews – including police, fire, and ambulance teams – can be seen dealing with the crash.
On top of that, the three vehicles involved can be seen severely damaged.
Currently Police Scotland has not revealed the full nature of the incident and how on-duty officers were involved in it.
The Scottish Ambulance Service previously confirmed they were in attendance at the crash.
A spokesperson for Police Scotland said: "The M8 in Glasgow is closed eastbound at J13 following a three-vehicle crash, including a police car, which happened around 1.10pm on Wednesday, July 24.
"Emergency services attended and two people were taken by ambulance to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital and two to Glasgow Royal Infirmary.

Why are you making commenting on The National only available to subscribers?
We know there are thousands of National readers who want to debate, argue and go back and forth in the comments section of our stories. We’ve got the most informed readers in Scotland, asking each other the big questions about the future of our country.
Unfortunately, though, these important debates are being spoiled by a vocal minority of trolls who aren’t really interested in the issues, try to derail the conversations, register under fake names, and post vile abuse.
So that’s why we’ve decided to make the ability to comment only available to our paying subscribers. That way, all the trolls who post abuse on our website will have to pay if they want to join the debate – and risk a permanent ban from the account that they subscribe with.
The conversation will go back to what it should be about – people who care passionately about the issues, but disagree constructively on what we should do about them. Let’s get that debate started!
