THE MET Office has issued an updated yellow weather warning as Scotland is set to be battered by rain this week.
A yellow warning for rain is in place today (Monday August 19) covering parts of south west Scotland, including Dumfries.
The weather forecaster said heavy rain would bring “some flooding and travel disruption”.
The Met Office also posted an update on another yellow warning set to come into place later this week.
It will come into place on Wednesday, August 21 at 9am and last until 3pm on Thursday August 22.
A warning for “heavy rain and strong winds” is in place and covers most of the west of the country.
In terms of what to expect, the Met Office said:
- There is a slight chance of power cuts and loss of other services to some homes and businesses
- There is a small chance that homes and businesses could be flooded, causing damage to some buildings
- Where flooding occurs, there is a slight chance of delays or cancellations to train and bus services
- Spray and flooding could lead to difficult driving conditions and some road closures
- There is a small chance that some communities will become cut off by flooded roads
- There is a small chance that injuries and danger to life could occur from large waves and beach material being thrown onto sea fronts, coastal roads and properties
A flood alert is also currently in place for Dumfries and Galloway.
