A FAMILY-OWNED Scottish hotel is set to close just months after it was taken over by new owners.

The Ben Lawers Hotel, located on the banks of Loch Tay, in Perthshire had been owned by the Hitchins family for the past 25 years.

Brothers Adam and Rory Hitchins took ownership of the hotel in June when aged 18 and 20. The hotel was previously owned by their parents Ian and Sian Hitchins.

The brothers had previously told The Courier they would be running it until September.

In a statement on Facebook, the hotel confirmed it would be closing its doors on Saturday, August 31.

It said: "As the season draws to a close and summer comes to an end, Ben Lawers Hotel will be closing its doors for the final time on the evening of Saturday, August 31."

The post added that the brothers “would like to express huge gratitude to everyone who supported us over the summer months - we have very much enjoyed it and hope you have too".

There are currently no future plans for the hotel.
