STEPHEN Flynn took aim with a wee joke at Keir Starmer’s expense during his speech at this year’s SNP conference.

The SNP Westminster leader opened his speech by congratulating his father Mark, who just became the leader of Dundee City Council.

And Flynn couldn’t help but make a wee joke about the Labour leader while congratulating his father.

He said: “Just yesterday, my dad, the best man I’ve ever met, he became the leader of Dundee City Council.

“After a long and distinguished career as a toolmaker… no, forgive me. Sorry, dad.

“After a long and continuing career as an engineer, he has taken the important responsibility of ensuring that a Dundee United fan is in charge of Scotland’s fourth city maintaining an important natural order.”

The Labour leader has become known for consistently mentioning that his father worked as a toolmaker, reportedly mentioning it on 29 occasions in 2020 alone.

Flynn also poked fun at Douglas Ross (above) during his speech, saying that Seamus Logan was concerned the outgoing Scottish Tory leader had “too many work commitments” after winning the Aberdeenshire North and Moray East seat.

He added that the only people happier than Logan and the SNP that night were “Douglas Ross’s colleagues”.
