A busy Glasgow railway line has been closed amid an ongoing police incident.

ScotRail has said emergency crews are dealing with a situation near the railway between Clarkston and Busby in East Renfrewshire currently.

Due to this, the travel operator has said both lines are closed. Additionally, it has said services between Glasgow Central and East Kilbride - which stop at Clarkston and Busby - are facing delays, alterations, and cancellations.

The British Transport Police confirmed they were called to the incident

After reporting the incident on social media, ScotRail has said it has requested rail replacement transport at East Kilbride and at Clarkston to run to Glasgow Central.

It has also requested replacement transport to run from Glasgow Central to East Kilbride, however, these have not been confirmed yet.

Meanwhile, according to National Rail, the disruption is expected to end at 10am this morning (Friday, September 6).

 

 

A spokesperson for ScotRail said: "Due to the police dealing with an incident near the railway between Clarkston and Busby, both lines are closed.

"Services between Glasgow Central and East Kilbride are subject to delay, alteration and cancellation."
