A CONSTRUCTION firm based in Perth and Kinross has appointed administrators with 66 jobs lost.

Hadden Construction announced it appointed Alvarez & Marsal as administrators on Tuesday, September 10, with its 66 members of staff being made redundant.

It cited inflation in materials prices, rising labour costs and supply chain interruptions as the main reasons for its closure.

The building contractor worked on projects ranging from residential developments to commercial and public sector buildings, including schools and healthcare facilities.

The building firm, headquartered near Auchterarder, confirmed work across its sites will cease, pending a review of works in progress.

Reportedly ongoing projects include new affordable housing in Newtyle, supported living apartments in Gaberston, the University of Stirling's Muirhead House refurbishment, the Ferguson Veterinary Clinic in Bankhead and the Edward Lawson Centre in Wishaw.

Ben Cairns, managing director at Alvarez & Marsal, said: “Like other contractors, Hadden Construction has been battling a number of headwinds in recent years, including inflated materials prices, rising labour costs and supply chain interruptions.

"As administrators, we will seek an orderly wind down of the operations and will welcome any investor interest in the company’s assets.

“We understand that today’s news is unsettling for the company’s employees and will be doing all we can to support them over the weeks ahead.”
