POLICE have found the body in the search for a hillwalker who went missing more than 18 months ago.

Ross Kinghorn was last seen on January 16, 2023 and it was believed he had intended to walk to the Beinn a' Ghlò hills above Blair Atholl.

Kinghorn was then reported missing four days later.

A week after he was reported missing, police said that some of his personal belongings had been found in the Bridge of Tilt area.

In September 2023, a renewed push to find the missing 57-year-old was launched, but without success.

Now, one year on, Police Scotland have said that they have found a body believed to belong to Kinghorn.

In a statement, the force said there did not appear to be any suspicious circumstances and that his family had been informed.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 4.50pm on Tuesday, September 10, 2024, the body of a man was found in the Glenfernate area of Blairgowrie.

“Formal identification is yet to take place but the family of missing man Ross Kinghorn has been informed.

“There do not appear to be any suspicious circumstances and a report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.”
