A MAN has died after falling from a balcony at a Glasgow art gallery.

The 55-year-old fell at the Gallery of Modern Art (GOMA) at around 12.30pm on Wednesday, September 11.

Emergency services including police and an ambulance, a paramedic response unit and a trauma team were blue-lighted to the scene.

The force has now confirmed that the man was pronounced dead at the scene. 

Police were investigating the incident, but they do not believe there to be any suspicious circumstances.

A report will be prepared for the procurator fiscal. 

A spokesperson said: "Around 12.30pm on Wednesday, 11 September, we received a report a man had fallen from height inside an art gallery on Royal Exchange Square.

"Emergency services attended but the 55-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene.

"There are not believed to be any suspicious circumstances and a report will be sent to the Procurator Fiscal."

 

The GOMA closed on Wednesday following the incident, but it is expected to reopen on Thursday at 10am as normal.
