A NUMBER of flood alerts have been issued across Scotland as a “danger to life” weather warning comes into place.

An amber weather warning is in place for the Western Isles and parts of the Highlands from 9am until midnight, while a yellow warning is in place across the whole country until midnight on Sunday, October 20.

Gusts of up to 80mph could hit north west Scotland and “injuries and danger to life is likely from large waves and beach material being thrown onto coastal roads, sea fronts and properties,” the Met Office said.
