A WOMAN who died after being hit by a car in North Lanarkshire has been named by police as Clare Ritchie.

Emergency services rushed to Crossgates around 9.30pm on Friday, November 1, after reports of a collision between a pedestrian and a silver Ford Fiesta.

The 41-year-old woman from Bellshill was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.

Her family issued the following statement: “Clare was a loving mother, daughter, sister, auntie and friend.

“The tragedy that happened on Friday has left us all devastated. She will be dearly missed, but we all promise to make her proud and keep her memory alive.”

The investigation is ongoing.

Sergeant Andrew Coutts said: “Our thoughts remain with Clare’s family.

“Enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances. We are asking anyone who saw what happened to get in touch.

"If you have dash-cam footage that could assist with our investigation then please contact us.”
