A SCOTTISH eggs producer — which allows customers to track each free range egg — has landed a new deal with supermarket giant Sainsbury's.

Turriff-based Duncan Farms providers a QR code for shoppers to use an online egg tracker on its website in an effort to promote local produce, and shoppers can now find the eggs in 29 Sainsbury's stores in Scotland.

The brand can already be found in Morrisons.

In June, Duncan Farms invested more than £10 million in the business including a new packing centre, new free-range sites on their own land and product development.

Additionally, they have partnered with contract producers who are looking to build new free-range sites over the next 24 months.

Since Duncan Farms inception in 2011 their sister business, Muirden Energy has been fully integrated with the farms as part of their investment in renewable energy solutions, including the installation of wind turbines and solar panels at free-range sites and biomass heating at rearing sites.

As part of the rebrand, the new Duncan’s Eggs packs are made from recycled content and are 100% recyclable.

Duncan Farms’ sales director, Rachael Duncan, said the win came at a “pivotal” time for the business.

Multiple key projects are also underway across Duncan Farms sites to drive continual improvements with their sustainability and increase their organic free-range production by 30% in 2024.

Duncan Farms also grow and mix all their own feed for their hens which are homed across Aberdeenshire.
