RYANAIR has issued a statement after customers reported having their flights cancelled.

Thousands of people woke up on Friday morning and reported having had their flights for the first week of February 2025 cancelled.

People were also left unable to book replacement flights – but did not have their return journey cancelled.

One Twitter user branded it a “farce”.

Another wrote on the social media platform: “@Ryanair you cancelled my outward flight to Edinburgh, but not the return journey three days later. How do you think I'm going to make that flight?

“Why have you not refunded both flights???”

A third person wrote: “Thank you @Ryanair for completely ruining my 50th birthday trip by cancelling our February flights for ‘commercial reasons’, which is code for ‘we can make more money’. What an f'ing joke you are!!”

And a fourth said: “Hi @Ryanair  Flights booked for February are cancelled and no other flights available for an entire week."

Ryanair issue statement on cancelled flights

Amid the chaos, Ryanair issued a statement confirming that the flights were cancelled in error, and will still run.

A spokesperson for the operator said: “Due to a tech issue, a number of flights scheduled to operate during 1st – 7th Feb 2025 were cancelled in error yesterday (November 14), and have since been reinstated.

“These flights will operate as scheduled and affected passengers have been notified.”

However, some customers remained unhappy. One person wrote on social media: “@Ryanair so you cancel a load of flights, get people to rebook onto new ones and then this text comes [saying the flights are not cancelled]???

“What are you playing at?”

Another wrote: “Got an email to say Ryanair had cancelled flight. Booked a new flight with Aer Lingus immediately.

“Now we’ve been told the flight isn’t actually cancelled and we can’t apply for a refund because the flight has been reinstated. So now €300 out of pocket.”
