In terms of what to expect, the forecaster said there is a “chance of disruption and difficult travel conditions due to snow and ice” and said the following is possible:

  • A chance that untreated pavements and cycle paths become impassable
  • A small chance power cuts will occur and other services, such as mobile phone coverage, may be affected
  • A slight chance some rural communities could become cut off
  • A chance of injuries from slips and falls on icy surfaces
  • A small chance of travel delays on roads with some stranded vehicles and passengers, along with delayed or cancelled rail and air travel

A yellow warning for snow and ice for the Highlands was already in place until 11am on Monday morning

A similar warning was also issued by the Met Office for parts of the Scottish Borders – which is in place from 7pm on Monday until 10am on Tuesday, November 19.
