A 68-YEAR-OLD has been charged after "allegedly assaulting and sexually assaulting" two teenage girls in Scotland.

Police Scotland said officers had arrested the man after assaults in South Ayrshire on Saturday evening.

The attacks took place on Prestwick Road.

The man has been released and is to appear at court at a later date.

A Police Scotland said: “A 68-year-old man has been arrested and charged following the alleged assault and sexual assault of two teenage girls on Prestwick Road, Ayr around 7.30pm on Saturday, November 16.

“He has been released on an undertaking to appear at court at a later date.”
