ALEX Burghart took aim at Rachel Reeves at Wednesday’s PMQs amid claims she lied on her CV.

Standing in for Kemi Badenoch in the Commons, the shadow chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster took aim at the Chancellor.

Her LinkedIn profile had listed three years spent as an economist at Halifax Bank of Scotland.

However, it has now been quietly changed to reflect her actual role, which was in retail banking.

While discussing inflation at PMQs, Burghart said: “This morning, we had City economists, real economists Mr Speaker, saying that next year inflation would hit 3%.”

It comes after inflation figures hit 2.3% on Wednesday morning, primarily driven by an increase in household energy bills.

On Reeves’s role, The Times reported that she had been “running a small administrative complaints department that also dealt with IT matters”.

The Chancellor has also spoken of a “decade” working as an economist at the Bank of England.

However, it seems that was actually a six-year period – during one of which she was studying for a Master’s degree.

The National previously took to the streets of Glasgow to find out what people made of Reeves’s CV.

And while many people conceded they weren’t overly bothered, they certainly weren’t happy about the cuts to the Winter Fuel Payment.
