A BRAND new musical featuring the hit songs of the Bay City Rollers is set to open in Glasgow.

The production, Rollers Forever, will open at the Pavilion Theatre from August 18 to 23, 2025, with tickets going on sale from November 29, 2024, at 10am.

Bay City Roller Stuart 'Woody' Wood will be the artistic consultant on the musical which has been written by award-winning playwright Danny McCahon.

Wood said: “This is going to be a lot of fun and I can’t wait to see all the fans rockin’ the tartan at the shows and having great fun singing along to all the hits.

“Get your tartan on and ‘Keep On Dancing’ (and a prancing).”

The play, directed by Liz Carruthers, will feature some of the band's most popular songs including Bye, Bye Baby, Keep On Dancing, Shang-a-Lang, and Summer Love Sensation.

The storyline follows two lifelong fans of the Bay City Rollers as they meet up and reminisce about their teenage years in the 1970s.

The musical is set in a world of phone boxes, mail-order catalogues and crispy pancakes, with every significant moment in the fans' lives marked by a hit from the Bay City Rollers.

McCahon added: "When I was approached to come up with an idea for a play incorporating the music of the Bay City Rollers, I saw it as an opportunity to write about the most important people in pop – the fans.

"The result is a show about the fans for the fans, packed with some of the greatest pop music ever created.

"It’s been an absolute treat to work on."

The play will coincide with the 50th anniversary of the Bay City Rollers’ first number one single.

The iconic band found fame in the early 1970s and went on to achieve global success with their single Saturday Night reaching number one on the US Billboard chart.
