TIME is running out to take advantage of one of the best offers The National has ever run – £10 for an entire year of full access to our online coverage.
As the cost of just about everything else continues to climb, we at The National have slashed our subscription price to celebrate our 10th anniversary – and there is less than one week left to take advantage.
It is hard to believe that The National has been part of Scotland’s media landscape for a full decade – and even harder to believe the impact it has had in that time.
For the first time, a pro-independence voice had a permanent place in Scotland’s media. The BBC had to include a Yes-backing front page in its daily papers round-up, and Unionist politicians have faced questions from journalists happy to challenge them on their assumptions.
As we have grown over the past 10 years, we have expanded our journalist base to have a permanent reporter in Westminster, as well as a regular presence at Holyrood.
With the support of our subscribers, we will be doing this for decades more.
The National will be able to keep bringing you insightful analysis from favourites such as Lesley Riddoch and David Pratt, as well as emerging voices like our Westminster reporter Hamish Morrison.
You can support us today for just £10 for a whole year – but time really is ticking. The offer will expire at 23.59 on December 3.
Thank you to everyone who takes us up on it – and to all of our existing subscribers. We truly could not do it without you.
Terms and conditions apply. Offer ends 3 December 2024 at 23:59 G.M.T. £10 for one year offer only valid on ‘Digital’ annual digital subscriptions. Subscription auto-renews unless cancelled. After the one-year trial period, annual subscription will be charged at £62.99 per year on ‘Digital’. Offer is exempt from gifting subscriptions. All subscriptions can be cancelled and refunded within 14 days of purchase. Non-subscribers and ‘Digital’ subscribers do not have access to The National digital edition. The National reserves the right to change or remove the offer at any time. Please see Terms & Conditions for full details.
Why are you making commenting on The National only available to subscribers?
We know there are thousands of National readers who want to debate, argue and go back and forth in the comments section of our stories. We’ve got the most informed readers in Scotland, asking each other the big questions about the future of our country.
Unfortunately, though, these important debates are being spoiled by a vocal minority of trolls who aren’t really interested in the issues, try to derail the conversations, register under fake names, and post vile abuse.
So that’s why we’ve decided to make the ability to comment only available to our paying subscribers. That way, all the trolls who post abuse on our website will have to pay if they want to join the debate – and risk a permanent ban from the account that they subscribe with.
The conversation will go back to what it should be about – people who care passionately about the issues, but disagree constructively on what we should do about them. Let’s get that debate started!
Callum Baird, Editor of The National
