IT’S that time of year again: Black Friday. The US import has become a firm fixture on this side of the pond, with everything from high-end electronics to dog food being offered at cut-down prices.
The past few years, we at The National have taken the opportunity to offer great deals on subscriptions – giving unlimited online access to insightful analysis from top columnists like Lesley Riddoch and David Pratt, unbeaten coverage of the Yes movement, and breaking news from our team of dedicated journalists.
This year however, we’ve decided to do something a little different.
To celebrate our 10th anniversary as a newspaper, we’ve already been running a bargain deal of £10 for an entire year of online access. With that milestone passed, the offer was also due to come to an end.
However, to mark Black Friday, we’ve decided to extend it into next week.
Now, you have until next Tuesday (December 3) at 23.59pm to take us up on the incredible offer of an entire year of access for just £10.
For less than £1 per month, you will be able to help us keep a pro-independence voice at the forefront of Scotland’s media.
You will be supporting us as we keep a dissenting voice to the pro-Union consensus on newsstands across the country, as we keep sending our journalists to ask the questions those UK Government politicians really don’t want to answer, and as we keep giving more and more young Scottish journalists the chance to help shape the media of their own country.
Could you ask for a better Black Friday deal than that?
Terms and conditions apply. Offer ends 3 December 2024 at 23:59 G.M.T. £10 for one year offer only valid on ‘Digital’ annual digital subscriptions. Subscription auto-renews unless cancelled. After the one-year trial period, annual subscription will be charged at £62.99 per year on ‘Digital’. Offer is exempt from gifting subscriptions. All subscriptions can be cancelled and refunded within 14 days of purchase. Non-subscribers and ‘Digital’ subscribers do not have access to The National digital edition. The National reserves the right to change or remove the offer at any time. Please see Terms & Conditions for full details.
Why are you making commenting on The National only available to subscribers?
We know there are thousands of National readers who want to debate, argue and go back and forth in the comments section of our stories. We’ve got the most informed readers in Scotland, asking each other the big questions about the future of our country.
Unfortunately, though, these important debates are being spoiled by a vocal minority of trolls who aren’t really interested in the issues, try to derail the conversations, register under fake names, and post vile abuse.
So that’s why we’ve decided to make the ability to comment only available to our paying subscribers. That way, all the trolls who post abuse on our website will have to pay if they want to join the debate – and risk a permanent ban from the account that they subscribe with.
The conversation will go back to what it should be about – people who care passionately about the issues, but disagree constructively on what we should do about them. Let’s get that debate started!
Callum Baird, Editor of The National
