A LUXURY townhouse hotel located just outside Edinburgh’s city centre has been sold to an overseas company.

Located near the heart of Edinburgh, the Bruntsfield Hotel has been acquired by Dubai-based Dutco Group from its previous owners, Castleforge.

The historic Victorian building is situated opposite Bruntsfield Links Park and is around a mile from both Haymarket train station and Edinburgh Castle.

The hotel has a selection of suites across its 74 bedrooms which are spread out over three storeys along with a bar and restaurant.

It recently underwent a major refurbishment as its rooms were modernised but are still in keeping with the building's historical interior.

The purchase of the Bruntsfield Hotel follows the earlier acquisition of the Mar Hall Golf and Spa Resort, near Glasgow, by Dutco within the space of a year.

Nelson Gibb, group chief executive officer at Dutco Group, said: “Expanding further into Scotland’s vibrant hospitality market so soon after acquiring Mar Hall reflects our strong belief in Scotland as a world-class destination.

“We look forward to bringing our vast hospitality expertise to reposition The Bruntsfield and contributing to its continued success as a cherished part of the Edinburgh hospitality landscape.”

Matt Lederer, hotel acquisitions director for Castleforge added: “We are pleased to have completed a successful bedrooms and restaurant refurbishment programme and brand repositioning of the Bruntsfield Hotel, following our acquisition in mid-2021.

“The Bruntsfield has become a well-regarded boutique offering in Edinburgh. This sale marks the next stage in our business plan, and we can’t wait to see the hotel go from strength-to-strength under new ownership.”
