BBC presenter Nikita Kanda has become the second contestant eliminated from Strictly Come Dancing 2023.
Kanda faced elimination from Strictly for the second week in a row after only managing a score of 21 on last night's movie week show with her Clueless-themed jive.
The BBC Asian Network presenter and her partner, Gorka Marquez, came up against Love Island star Zara McDermott and Graziano Di Prima in the dance-off on tonight's show.
McDermott had only managed a score of 25 with her Puss in Boots paso doble routine on Saturday night.
Both couples performed their routines again in a bid to impress the judges and avoid elimination.
Nikita Kanda second celebrity eliminated from Strictly Come Dancing 2023
Kanda survived last week's dance-off against Les Dennis but wasn't able to repeat the feat this week.
The 28-year-old became the second contestant eliminated from Strictly Come Dancing after the judges elected to save McDermott instead of her.
Judge Motsi Mabuse said Kanda made “a few mistakes that were quite visible” while Anton Du Beke agreed “there were a couple of small mistakes”.
Kanda said she did not want to leave saying it had been "a dream come true" for her to take part on Strictly.
Talking to Strictly co-host Tess Daly, she said: “I’ve had the best time and I love all my Strictly family, I’m going to miss you all. This has been a dream come true, I’m so grateful.”
Kanda added she was disappointed and felt she had let her professional partner Gorka Marquez down.
Marquez said: “I am beyond proud of her, for someone that doesn’t have any dance experience or performance experience to come on this show and dance in front of millions of people – for three weeks, I think it’s incredible.
“You should be very proud of yourself, you have never let me down and I am very proud of you.
“This show is going to teach you so many things about yourself that you can take with you, and I take incredible memories.
“I’ve never laughed so much in three weeks than I did with you!”
During the results show on Sunday (October 8), Marquez channelled Hollywood star Ryan Gosling and played Ken from the hit film Barbie in a professional performance.
US singer Madison Beer also performed on tonight's show.
The remaining 13 couples will return to the dancefloor next Saturday (October 14) when Strictly Come Dancing continues at 6.30pm on BBC One and BBC iPlayer.
Why are you making commenting on The National only available to subscribers?
We know there are thousands of National readers who want to debate, argue and go back and forth in the comments section of our stories. We’ve got the most informed readers in Scotland, asking each other the big questions about the future of our country.
Unfortunately, though, these important debates are being spoiled by a vocal minority of trolls who aren’t really interested in the issues, try to derail the conversations, register under fake names, and post vile abuse.
So that’s why we’ve decided to make the ability to comment only available to our paying subscribers. That way, all the trolls who post abuse on our website will have to pay if they want to join the debate – and risk a permanent ban from the account that they subscribe with.
The conversation will go back to what it should be about – people who care passionately about the issues, but disagree constructively on what we should do about them. Let’s get that debate started!
