Another week, another EastEnders schedule change, which has left fans feeling “annoyed”.
There have been a few weeks of disruption to the BBC soap’s usual programming schedule due to sport recently.
This week, the FA Cup has forced EastEnders to move its usual Tuesday episode (January 16) to Friday (January 19).
BBC One will be showing the Bristol City vs West Ham United match today (third-round replay) instead, due to kick off at 7.45pm live from Ashton Gate.

The Radio Times summary states: “The Championship outfit took a contingent of 9,000 fans to London Stadium for the original tie nine days ago, and put in a stirring performance to come back from a goal down to secure a 1-1 draw and earn tonight's replay.
“For Hammers manager David Moyes, this is a rare managerial return to a ground he graced as a player having represented the Robins from 1985 to 1987, and he'll be hoping to avoid an early exit from the competition.”
This also means popular crime drama Silent Witness has changed time slots (now airing on January 22) as well as Waterloo Road (now airing on January 23).
When is EastEnders on BBC One this week?
- Monday, January 15: 7.30pm
- Tuesday, January 16: No episode due to FA Cup match
- Wednesday, January 17: 7.30pm
- Thursday, January 18: 7.30pm
- Friday, January 19: 7.30pm
@bbceastenders confirmed the news on X and said episodes will air on BBC iPlayer on Monday and Wednesday to Friday.
Replying to the post on social media, someone wrote: “Yep. Here we go again. FA Cup disrupts our schedule to annoy us. BBC 2 is available, yet they don't b****y use it. Never have common sense to move channels for just one day. We like to have a moan about sport. Typical!”

“Of course BBC don’t want to use BBC Sport to put the annoying football on,” tweeted this account.
This viewer complained: “Stop moving the schedule, people are just going to forget about Friday otherwise. Just gets annoying.”

However, some BBC viewers have called for the Friday episode to stay permanently.
One posted: “Good, i prefer eastenders on a Friday.”
Another added: “Why isn’t Friday a regular day for it to air?”
“I love the Friday episodes - makes it less of a gap,” said this person.
EastEnders continues on BBC One on January 17 from 7.30pm.
Why are you making commenting on The National only available to subscribers?
We know there are thousands of National readers who want to debate, argue and go back and forth in the comments section of our stories. We’ve got the most informed readers in Scotland, asking each other the big questions about the future of our country.
Unfortunately, though, these important debates are being spoiled by a vocal minority of trolls who aren’t really interested in the issues, try to derail the conversations, register under fake names, and post vile abuse.
So that’s why we’ve decided to make the ability to comment only available to our paying subscribers. That way, all the trolls who post abuse on our website will have to pay if they want to join the debate – and risk a permanent ban from the account that they subscribe with.
The conversation will go back to what it should be about – people who care passionately about the issues, but disagree constructively on what we should do about them. Let’s get that debate started!
