I HAVE long supported the slow and steady course favoured by the SNP leadership, the one which seeks not to cause previous soft No voters to bolt in the hopes they will come to Yes in the realisation of what is best for Scotland, themselves and their future generations of family.

This is all fine and dandy when you have a government in Westminster that at least pretends to take the views of other nations of the UK into consideration.

Wednesday saw the ultimate nadir of this viewpoint as Boris Johnson attacked that legally acclaimed liar, Carmichael of the LibDems, as being a supporter of Scottish independence.

This for me was the final evidence that Boris Johnson’s government and Johnson himself has completely lost the plot. That Johnson gave a “Better Together” ally a non-answer to his question merely provides more objective evidence of the deafness to all things Scottish and pertaining to Scotland within the Tory party.

What we saw at PMQs was a “Clamjamwhamfrey” – a noisy load of old blethers with neither point nor substance – in the place of actual answers from the UK’s erstwhile PM.

How can you negotiate anything with a UK Government which is deaf to its own people in England, ignores its scientific advisors and is leading the UK economy to Brexit rack and ruin in pursuit of short-term hedge-fund profiteering; let alone listening to us unwashed, rebellious and ungrateful Scots?

Yet the high heid yins in the SNP still think they can negotiate a Section 30 with Monty Boris’s Flying Circus?

Aye, that’ll be richt!

MULTIPLE scientists have warned Boris Johnson that ending the lockdown prematurely virtually guarantees a second wave of Covid-19. Johnson’s response was typically full of bluster, lies and buffoonery. He ignored the scientific advice and instead did what the bankers and oligarchs wanted him to; namely open up the economy. This criminal Tory negligence will cost thousands of lives.

The Tories are now going through a sham exercise to ditch the two-metre rule, all so pubs and restaurants can open up. The decision has already been made that it will go. But as per usual the Tories lie and say it hasn’t.

The decision to delay the lockdown cost up to 20,000 lives according to Professor Neil Ferguson, who was the chief scientific adviser. Instead Johnson and the Tories pushed the dubious “herd immunity” approach in order to protect the accumulated fortunes of the Tory donor class.

What has to now happen is that Nicola Sturgeon should close the border if there is a second wave in England. This is not about constitutional niceties. Its about saving lives of people in Scotland.

Boris Johnson is flatly incapable of telling the truth on any issue. The Tories said they would let millions of children on free school meals go hungry during the summer holidays in England. This was promptly followed by a U-turn after a campaign by footballer Marcus Rashford. Johnson ludicrously claimed he had not heard of the campaign. This just shows the arrogant conceit of a compulsive liar who has never been held to account for his lies.

Thanks to 40 years of Tory incompetence and greed, the UK is now in the worst depression since 1929. The furlough scheme is nothing other than a national payday loan. At some point soon there will be an emergency Budget with tax rises, spending cuts and wage freezes.

A hard Brexit is on the horizon as Johnson refuses to ask for an extension to the negotiating period.

The UK is now a purified rotting corpse. The only way out is for Scotland to have another independence referendum. Either that or be sunk on the Tory Titanic.

ALTHOUGH many in England will welcome the Tory U-turn on extending free school meal support over the summer holidays, the whole fiasco highlights yet again why the public can’t trust Boris Johnson.

On Monday his office put out a press quote saying that the scheme wouldn’t be extended yet we’re now told by Johnson that he only read the letter on Tuesday – so who authorised the press quote on Monday? Did Dominic Cummings send out the quote without bothering to tell the Prime Minister what was going out in his name? Has he done this before?

Let’s be honest, the Prime Minister is seen as clueless on most issues, often just bumbling his way through interviews and questions. He clearly hasn’t a clue what is going on around him and has little or no grasp of the detail of any of the major issues facing the UK, relying on pre-prepared sound bites fed to him by Cummings and co.

IT is sad to read Andrew Learmonth’s article “Davidson row after claim SNP influenced top virus adviser” (June 18) as it highlights how far Ruth Davidson has fallen. At one time it was Col Davidson ready to be FM (First Minister) and then lady in waiting to be UK’s PM (Prime Minister) and now it is Ruth Davidson MM (miserable mess) and in such a short space of time. Oh how the “mighty” have fallen!

THERE is an old saying that advises that you should be mindful of how you treat others on the way up the ladder of success because it is very likely you will meet the same people on the way back down.

I would love to be a fly on the wall when Westminster goes to negotiate new trade deals with old Commonwealth countries. How Westminster treated the indigenous peoples of these countries when building their empire is still remembered by many.
