I’M at a loss to agree with your headline and supporting letters to suggest that there was a lack of support by elected councillors, MSPs or MPs on Saturday’s Believe in Scotland Day of Action.
This was not the case in Kelty where activists were fully supported and encouraged by the involvement of SNP councillor Ali Bain and our elected MSP Annabelle Ewing who visited all four of our street stalls and played an active and visible part in each.
Concurrently the Yes Bikers drove from Monktown to Stranraer to Dumfries and on to Moffat. As ever we were accompanied by SNP MP Stewart Hosie who joined our campaign as an active member to ride out from Dundee completing more than 380 miles on the road, promoting the Yes Bikers’ Scottish Independence Statement.

I don't know where Name and Address was not seeing SNP representatives on Saturday. But if he'd been in Kinross he'd have seen our ward councillor at the Yes gazebo, and also out putting leaflets in doors.

Why are you making commenting on The National only available to subscribers?
We know there are thousands of National readers who want to debate, argue and go back and forth in the comments section of our stories. We’ve got the most informed readers in Scotland, asking each other the big questions about the future of our country.
Unfortunately, though, these important debates are being spoiled by a vocal minority of trolls who aren’t really interested in the issues, try to derail the conversations, register under fake names, and post vile abuse.
So that’s why we’ve decided to make the ability to comment only available to our paying subscribers. That way, all the trolls who post abuse on our website will have to pay if they want to join the debate – and risk a permanent ban from the account that they subscribe with.
The conversation will go back to what it should be about – people who care passionately about the issues, but disagree constructively on what we should do about them. Let’s get that debate started!
