IT’S not surprising that Douglas Ross is facing criticism (“Ross under fire for ‘photo call’ at soup kitchen”, Feb 18). He has shown that his insensitivity threshold is almost uniquely high, even for a Tory.

His own financial position is so healthy that last year he forgot about £28,000 that he’d earned, yet face-to-face with users of this soup kitchen, he supported withdrawing the £20 uplift from many of them.

He then added insult to injury by having his photo taken donating one of the 5600 fivers that he found resting in his account to the homeless.

DOUGLAS Ross is among the many Tory politicians who suffer from selective amnesia. He defends the increase in National Insurance, because the NHS urgently needs it, at the same time forgetting that the Johnson Bus promised that £350 million each week saved by Brexit would go straight to the NHS. There was no mention on the bus of tax increases.

His photo opportunity outside a soup kitchen beggars belief.
