ALISTER “suck it up” Jack is a po-faced nonentity whose time as Secretary of State for Scotland amounts to a dereliction of duty. Scotland has never benefited one iota from his stewardship.
Slavishly devoted to Boris Johnson, who promoted him out of anonymity, Alister Jack is an arrogant, self-serving dullard who exhibits all the worst traits of a tone-deaf snob.

While worried pensioners and cash-strapped families will struggle to pay skyrocketing energy and food bills, this grasping, shameless individual made £20 million from a storage unit rental firm. Jack also owns a 1200-acre estate in the Borders.
Such is his greed that Alister Jack is sucking up taxpayers’ cash in expenses for his second home to the tune of £4059.54 over three years.
This is proof positive that the Tories are only concerned with the acquisition and management of money.
The plight of the British public comes in a far distant second place.

How is the cost of living crisis affecting you?
From soaring energy bills to rising food prices and stagnating wages, it's getting harder and harder for many Scots to make ends meet. We want to tell the stories of how the cost of living crisis is impacting people in Scotland. Are you struggling to choose between heating and eating? Are you finding it increasingly difficult to afford your weekly shop? If so, we want to go beyond the statistics and tell your story.
Why are you making commenting on The National only available to subscribers?
We know there are thousands of National readers who want to debate, argue and go back and forth in the comments section of our stories. We’ve got the most informed readers in Scotland, asking each other the big questions about the future of our country.
Unfortunately, though, these important debates are being spoiled by a vocal minority of trolls who aren’t really interested in the issues, try to derail the conversations, register under fake names, and post vile abuse.
So that’s why we’ve decided to make the ability to comment only available to our paying subscribers. That way, all the trolls who post abuse on our website will have to pay if they want to join the debate – and risk a permanent ban from the account that they subscribe with.
The conversation will go back to what it should be about – people who care passionately about the issues, but disagree constructively on what we should do about them. Let’s get that debate started!
