Surely it is time for an honest, reasoned comparison of the possibilities open to us
ALYN Smith states “the EU is our lifeboat from HMS Brexit”(Nov 22). But what if there are other lifeboats, eg membership of the European Free Trade Association (Efta)?
Surely it is time for an honest, reasoned comparison of the possibilities open to Scotland when it leaves HMS UK. If EU membership is the best option, can those proposing it give a factual summary of the pros and cons of membership? Likewise those who favour Efta or some other future should likewise list the pluses and minuses of that option.
The people of Scotland will not be able to sensibly decide on which of these differing futures is best suited to their needs unless such information becomes available.

Why are you making commenting on The National only available to subscribers?
