POLITICS in Scotland this week will see a new Conservative MSP take their seat, not because there has been a by-election or even an election, but because once again the unelected House of Lords is interfering in Scottish politics. The announcement recently that Conservative MSP Donald Cameron had been given a “life peerage" and moved to the House of Lords is not only denying democracy, it is more evidence, if that were needed, of just how the Conservatives operate in government.

Mr Cameron in his new role of “Parliamentary Under Secretary of State” in the Scotland Office brings the number holding this role to three, two of which are now unelected. What does this say about the present elected Scottish Conservative MPs, numbering six?

But hold on, could this be moves in preparation for the dearth of Scottish Conservative MPs after the next General Election as predicted!
