CAMPAIGNERS have called on Yes supporters to celebrate the anniversary of the Chain of Freedom.

One of the biggest events in last year's Yes calendar, the Chain of Freedom took place from Bowling to Falkirk on October 14, showing a remarkable display of solidarity from Scottish independence supporters.

Those who filmed the event, Scottish Passport Video Record (SPVR), are now calling for people to come together and celebrate the anniversary of the Chain of Freedom by holding a watch party of the six-part film of the event.

They suggested watching the film all in one go or splitting it over six weekends, making it more fun by bringing food to share and competing to see who can watch the whole film non-stop.

A spokesperson from SPVR said: “Although thousands lined the Forth and Clyde Canal from Bowling to Falkirk that day, many other Scots elected to do the shopping, go to the football or watch the telly.

“There are millions who have still not woken up to the fact that Scotland’s future is, to the main part, in the hands of the Government in Westminster.

“Devolution may be a stepping stone on the way to independence, but if we want a Scotland where its future is made in Scotland, we need to step off that stone with a Scottish Government totally dedicated to the people of Scotland with the full powers that come with that.

“What is certain is that Scotland’s future will be the same as its recent past unless the people of Scotland demand that things change.”
