Craig Gordon 6: Didn't really have a chance with either early goal though could be argued he could have been off his line quicker for second. Made some decent stops.
Andy Robertson 6: Asked to play as right-wing back but decision didn't pay off. Spent vast majority of the game in his own half and provided little as an attacking threat. Things changed in second-half to an extent, but not enough.
Liam Cooper 5: Seemed quite clear he hadn't played too often with his central defensive partners. A couple of mix-ups conceded possession at times but stood up well enough to the physical battle.
Grant Hanley 6: Another who seems to enjoy the aerial duel but found it tough, like the rest of the defence, to deal with the Danes' high press. Appears to be growing into the starting XI, though.
Scott McKenna 5: Failed to step out quickly enough for second Denmark goal and didn't reappear for the second-half as was replaced by Dykes.
Kieran Tierney 5: Caught ball-watching just before he was at fault for the opening goal for the same crime. Hardly managed to venture forward, either, as Scotland were penned into their own half.
Billy Gilmour 7: Desperately close to pulling a goal back early in the second-half. Wasn't afraid to try the riskier passes but it didn't come off often enough. Slick passing and always looked forward and our best player on the night.
Callum McGregor 5: Really wasn't his night. Uncharacteristically allowed the game to pass him by as Denmark played defence to attack and found it difficult to get any time on the ball.
Kenny McLean 5: Like McGregor the game went by without his influence. Was warned after a late challenge in the first-half which seemingly put him off in the second. Subbed.
Ryan Fraser 5: Game didn't suit him at all. Offered absolutely nothing in the first-half and didn't improve much after the restart. In his defence perhaps route one to a 5ft 5in striker is not the best tactic to suit the Newcastle man. Denied by a terrific Schmeichel save.
Che Adams 5: Seriously starved of any sort of valuable possession, mostly due to his teammates behind him letting him down. Then again, unable to make anything that did come his way stick. Subbed.
Subs:
Lyndon Dykes (on for McKenna, 46) 4: The on-form QPR striker was given the second-half for McKenna but had the same issue making any sort of trouble for the Danes.
Ryan Christie (on for Adams, 71) 4: Given last 20 minutes but Denmark had most of the ball and Bournemouth new boy didn't get involved.
David Turnbull (on for McLean, 85) 3: Put in a decent cross or two late on but too little, too late for Scotland.
Lewis Ferguson (on for Gilmour, 90+2) N/A
Why are you making commenting on The National only available to subscribers?
We know there are thousands of National readers who want to debate, argue and go back and forth in the comments section of our stories. We’ve got the most informed readers in Scotland, asking each other the big questions about the future of our country.
Unfortunately, though, these important debates are being spoiled by a vocal minority of trolls who aren’t really interested in the issues, try to derail the conversations, register under fake names, and post vile abuse.
So that’s why we’ve decided to make the ability to comment only available to our paying subscribers. That way, all the trolls who post abuse on our website will have to pay if they want to join the debate – and risk a permanent ban from the account that they subscribe with.
The conversation will go back to what it should be about – people who care passionately about the issues, but disagree constructively on what we should do about them. Let’s get that debate started!
Callum Baird, Editor of The National
