SCOTS boxer Hannah Rankin is a world champion once again.
Rankin - from Luss - defeated Sweden's Maria Lindberg on a unanimous points decision in London on Friday night to win the vacant WBA world female super-welterweight title - and the IBO belt at the same time.
Speaking to Women In Boxing's YouTube channel after the fight at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, 31-year-old Rankin, who previously won the IBO world title in 2019 to become Scotland's first female world boxing champion, said: "I was expecting a tough, rough fight, because Maria, she's a very experienced fighter.
"She lives in the gym. She's never out of the gym, she's always in shape and boxing is her life.
"It was a great fight and I just think my boxing ability outdid her, and my bigger shots."

Friday night's victory, broadcast live by Fightzone TV, was the culmination of a battle of nearly two years for Rankin to become a world champion again after she lost her IBO title to Lindberg's compatriot Patricia Berghuklt in November 2019.
Why are you making commenting on The National only available to subscribers?
We know there are thousands of National readers who want to debate, argue and go back and forth in the comments section of our stories. We’ve got the most informed readers in Scotland, asking each other the big questions about the future of our country.
Unfortunately, though, these important debates are being spoiled by a vocal minority of trolls who aren’t really interested in the issues, try to derail the conversations, register under fake names, and post vile abuse.
So that’s why we’ve decided to make the ability to comment only available to our paying subscribers. That way, all the trolls who post abuse on our website will have to pay if they want to join the debate – and risk a permanent ban from the account that they subscribe with.
The conversation will go back to what it should be about – people who care passionately about the issues, but disagree constructively on what we should do about them. Let’s get that debate started!
