Scotland’s World Cup play-off opponents Ukraine are among the teams Steve Clarke’s side could face when the group draw for UEFA Nations League takes place on Thursday.
The national team will discover which three sides they will take on in League B of the competition when the names are drawn from the hat at 5pm in Nyon, Switzerland.
Ukraine, who Scotland host in March in a crucial World Cup semi-final clash at Hampden, are listed in Pot 1 alongside Sweden, Bosnia-Herzegovina and Iceland.
Scotland are in Pot 2 along with Finland, Norway and Russia.
Scotland face the possibility of being paired with Israel for a third time in the competition with Willibald Ruttensteiner’s in the third pot alongside Romania, Serbia, Republic of Ireland.
Pot 4 contains Slovenia, Montenegro, Albania, Armenia.
Scotland benefited with the inaugural 2018/19 UEFA Nations League campaign to reach Euro 2020 through the backdoor because a group win earned the country a play-off spot.
UEFA, however, are yet to confirm how many teams might earn a play-off spot for Euro 2024 via the Nations League.
The competition regulations are expected to be approved by June 2022 ahead of the Euro 2024 draw in October 2022.
Scotland finished second in Nations League group B2 for the 20/21 campaign behind the Czech Republic. Israel and Slovakia came third and fourth respectively.
The group games for the latest tournament will take place between June 2022 and September 2022, with the Euro 2024 play-offs being played in March 2024.
