Barry Robson is thrilled by the exploits of star striker Bojan Miovski as he praised the Aberdeen talisman for taking his game to another level.
The North Macedonia international has scored 28 times since arriving at Pittodrie from MTK Budapest in summer 2022 - including firing the Dons to a Viaplay Cup final meeting against Rangers next month. The €650,000 fee Aberdeen paid to land Miovski is already proving a bargain, and Robson believes natural talent coupled with a strong willingness to fulfil his maximum potential has justified the club handing him a four-year-deal.
Now the Aberdeen manager would love to see Miovski pay back that faith by remaining in the Granite City long-term. He said: “Of course you would [want to keep Miovski]. We would love to. Listen, he’s still got a long contract here, Bojan. He’s a brilliant boy, done so well, we’ve worked so hard on him as a player and I think we can all see that. We’ve really worked on trying to give him that extra speed, make him more forward runs, and the hard bit to coach someone like that is the goals, that’s his talent.
"The thing we have done is we have tried to help him get more goals and I think you can see that. I think he’s got an extra yard, I think you can see that with more runs, diagonal, forward runs, quicker runs, he wants to press the ball more, and as I’ve said to him as a striker, that’s what you need to do. He has taken every tactical bit on board and he’s done really well.”
The 24-year-old is contracted until 2026 yet his form is believed to have clubs across Europe on alert. English Championship side Southampton were previously linked with a transfer swoop while his countryman Goran Pandev previously claimed Miovski would be a hit in Serie A, and Robson isn't certain whether more interest will come to fruition when the January window opens.

“I’m not sure," replied Robson. "I think we’ve got a lot of good players. Whether or not there will be interest, that’s something you will have to ask somebody else. I don’t know who is watching our players.
“I think we try to keep on top of everyone’s contracts and that’s something that will be done privately if it is. I wouldn't be coming out in the press and saying we are going to do this or that. It is something that Steven Gunn works on privately in the background. We try and keep everything in line with what’s best for everyone.”
Robson also clarified that both Miovski and strike partner Luis 'Duk' Lopes will be fit and available to face Rangers in the Scottish Premiership on Sunday - despite the pair returning late from international duty.
“Duk gets back on Friday along with Bojan," Robson added. "We gave Bojan extra time to go and see a family member. Duk is back in after planes, trains and automobiles. I know he played 10 minutes. He isn’t injured and we will get him right into training.”
Why are you making commenting on The National only available to subscribers?
We know there are thousands of National readers who want to debate, argue and go back and forth in the comments section of our stories. We’ve got the most informed readers in Scotland, asking each other the big questions about the future of our country.
Unfortunately, though, these important debates are being spoiled by a vocal minority of trolls who aren’t really interested in the issues, try to derail the conversations, register under fake names, and post vile abuse.
So that’s why we’ve decided to make the ability to comment only available to our paying subscribers. That way, all the trolls who post abuse on our website will have to pay if they want to join the debate – and risk a permanent ban from the account that they subscribe with.
The conversation will go back to what it should be about – people who care passionately about the issues, but disagree constructively on what we should do about them. Let’s get that debate started!
