Celtic are looking to make a move for Burnley player Dara O'Shea this summer, according to a report.

The Scottish Premiership champions are keen to land the Republic of Ireland international following his side's recent relegation to the Championship.

The defender's future is up in the air at the Clarets and Vincent Kompany's departure for Bayern Munich.

And the Daily Record claims that Celtic have made an approach for the 25-year-old.

Brendan Rodgers is said to be of the belief that O'Shea can make a difference to the Hoops in the Champions League, which places him high on the transfer wishlist.

It's believed that a major offer would be needed to convince Burnley to sell given they only signed him last year for £7m from West Bromwich Albion.

The report goes on to say that any decision on O'Shea's future from Burnley's side of things wouldn't be sorted until they have a new head coach in place.

O'Shea has 26 caps to his name for Ireland so far in his career.

Cameron Carter-Vickers and Liam Scales are the two first picks at centre-back for Rodgers at the moment.

But with both Gustaf Lagerbielke and Maik Nawrocki potentially on their way out of Parkhead this summer, the requirement for another centre-half is a pressing matter.

Meanwhile, Celtic-linked midfielder Callum O'Hare is available on a free transfer this summer.

The 26-year-old has officially left Coventry City after his contract at the English Championship club expired.

O'Hare - who has been linked with both Celtic and Rangers in recent windows - was a fan favourite down south and had attracted significant transfer interest.

Previous reports touted O'Hare for a move to the Premier League, while it was also claimed up to three La Liga clubs watched the midfielder in action last season.
