Nicolas Kuhn has revealed that his friends and family were moved to tears by the experience of watching him fulfil his Champions League dream at Celtic Park on Wednesday night.
The German winger has taken the long road to Europe's elite competition, representing teams who compete at that level in the youth ranks, but only making his Champions League debut in the thumping win over Slovan Bratislava.
His partner and members of his family were in attendance, and after having his first experience of a big European night at Celtic Park, both they and Kuhn himself can't imagine a better place for him to have made his long-held ambition a reality.
"Unbelievable," Kuhn said.
"It was the craziest thing I ever experienced. It was amazing. It was a long journey and finally arriving in the Champions League at such a stadium was unreal.
"It was more than I expected. After the anthem it was so loud it was amazing. Everyone said they are special nights and I was really looking forward to it and now I can say I have played in a game here.
"A lot of friends were here and my girlfriend. (They thought it was) amazing. I think they were crying.
"The goal was always to play in the Champions League. When I was on a year loan from Bayern, I said in the second league in Germany, the goal is Champions League and one day hopefully national team.
"I was 20-21, that was my goal and I didn't care what other people said. It's what I believe I can achieve and that was my feeling."
Up next for Celtic is the rather less glamorous assignment of a home League Cup quarter final tie against Championship outfit Falkirk on Sunday, but Kuhn is adamant they will be giving John McGlynn's men the same respect they gave Slovan during the week.
"It's another competition now and we have to keep going," he said.
"You have to show respect for every opponent but we are going to focus on our game."
