Tom Lawrence is gearing up for further discussions with Wales manager Craig Bellamy as he seeks to end his international hiatus.

The Rangers star, 31, has been a notable absence from the national team since his last appearance in a friendly against Mexico in 2021.

Lawrence was a key player for the Dragons during the tenures of former managers Chris Coleman and Ryan Giggs. However, his relationship with ex-boss Rob Page deteriorated, leading to his exclusion from the squad.

In a positive turn of events, Lawrence recently engaged in preliminary talks with Bellamy, who has recently taken the reins of the Welsh national team.

The ex-Celtic striker has expressed willingness to facilitate Lawrence’s return, allowing him to skip the upcoming UEFA Nations League matches against Turkey and Montenegro before potentially including him in his plans for the October fixtures.

As Lawrence prepares for these critical conversations over the next few weeks, the prospect of donning the iconic red jersey once more is within reach, marking a potential new chapter in his international career.

"I spoke to the manager before the international break this month," explained the former Derby County playmaker.

"We'll have another chat and see where we're at. But there's no pressure on it, it's pretty open on both sides. I'm not going to say I should be in this or be in that.

“It was open to go there last time but we felt it was right with the injuries I've had in the past just to keep going and make sure I get good training here.
