Celtic majority shareholder Dermot Desmond has laid out his targets for this year’s Champions League campaign in a rare interview.
Brendan Rodgers’ side maintained their perfect start to the Scottish Premiership season on Sunday with a dramatic late win against Ross County.
But it has been more of a mixed bag in Europe; after seeing off Slovan Bratislava in style at Celtic Park, the Hoops suffered an agonising 7-1 defeat in Dortmund.
Desmond, who was playing golf at the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship in St Andrews, remains optimistic about the Celtic’s European campaign. The Irishman told BBC Scotland: "I think we have played good football. We had a good start and could have played bad football, but we have played very good and exciting football.

“Unfortunately, we weren't at our best on Tuesday, but I like what we are doing, what Brendan is doing and I think we have a good squad."
Asked about his hopes for the rest of Celtic’s Champions League campaign, Desmond said: "I would like to see some good results, home results and maybe nick a point or two away.
"I think we have done exceptionally well so far. It's interesting to play eight different teams, four at home and four away with all different rankings.
"I think it makes it exciting for the club, the supporters and people generally."
Why are you making commenting on The National only available to subscribers?
We know there are thousands of National readers who want to debate, argue and go back and forth in the comments section of our stories. We’ve got the most informed readers in Scotland, asking each other the big questions about the future of our country.
Unfortunately, though, these important debates are being spoiled by a vocal minority of trolls who aren’t really interested in the issues, try to derail the conversations, register under fake names, and post vile abuse.
So that’s why we’ve decided to make the ability to comment only available to our paying subscribers. That way, all the trolls who post abuse on our website will have to pay if they want to join the debate – and risk a permanent ban from the account that they subscribe with.
The conversation will go back to what it should be about – people who care passionately about the issues, but disagree constructively on what we should do about them. Let’s get that debate started!
