Former Celtic midfielder Matt O'Riley has been spotted back in training for Brighton.

The 23-year-old suffered a serious ankle injury just nine minutes into his debut for the Seagulls after making a record-breaking £30 million move from the Scottish champions in the summer.

O'Riley was forced off after suffering a crunching challenge from Crawley Town's Jay Williams in a Carabao Cup clash at the Amex on August 27.

Brighton boss Fabian Hurzeler revealed at the time that the Denmark international could be ruled out for up to 12 weeks following a scan.

However, it looks like the midfielder could be nearing a return to action sooner than expected after he was seen returning to the training ground on Thursday.

Brighton shared a video on social media showing O'Riley getting back to work, along with the caption "Getting closer..."

It appears as though the 23-year-old is training alone as he builds up his fitness before making a full return with the rest of the squad.
